Report: Manchester United targeting Sadio Mane, Yoshinori Muto
Manchester United, winless in the Premier League since its visit to Vicarage Road more than one month ago, is reportedly keeping tabs on a pair of players who could potentially resuscitate its front line.
Having accepted that another forward is needed at Old Trafford - the club has scored only four times in its past seven fixtures at the ground - United is reportedly discussing Sadio Mane of Southampton, and Yoshinori Muto of FSV Mainz 05, reports Daniel Taylor of the Guardian.
Mane, of course, had been linked with a move to United during the summer transfer window, but ultimately remained at Southampton. The Senegalese forward has tallied three goals and five assists in the Premier League this season, and he scored the fastest hat trick in league history at the end of the prior campaign.
Muto, meanwhile, is featuring at Mainz after rejecting a move to Chelsea that was apparently valued at around £3 million. The Japanese striker's decision to move from FC Tokyo to the Bundesliga allegedly stemmed from a desire for first-team opportunities. He has registered seven goals and two assists in the top flight of German football.
