Osimhen joins Wolfsburg as part of Ultimate Strikers Academy partnership
On the same day that VfL Wolfsburg announced a cooperation with Nigeria's Ultimate Strikers Academy, the club welcomed talented teenager Victor Osimhen to the Allerpark training pitches.
The 17-year-old will join Die Wolfe officially on Jan. 1, 2017 - three days after his 18th birthday.
The striker won the Golden Boot at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup with 10 goals in seven games of a triumphant Super Eagles campaign. He's been coveted by many clubs since, including Tottenham Hotspur, who apparently made an approach last November.
"We are delighted to welcome our first international cooperation partner, in the Ultimate Strikers Academy, here as VfL Wolfsburg," Wolfsburg Director of Sport Klaus Allofs told the club website. "For talented youngsters such as Victor Osimhen, it is a major advantage to combine the games at home with the academy team, with knowledge of youth training and operational processes in European professional football."
More youngsters from Nigeria's promising contingent are expected to follow Osimhen's route.
