Argonauts Milanovich: Possible MCL sprain for Ricky Ray
It's still early, but things are not looking good for Ricky Ray and the Toronto Argonauts.
With just under 11 minutes to play in the fourth quarter of Monday's game between the Argonauts and the Montreal Alouettes, Ray was injured on a 1-yard run by Brandon Whitaker on a tackle by Alouettes defensive tackle Vaughn Martin. Ray was removed from the game and replaced by Logan Kilgore.
According to Matthew Scianitti of TSN, Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich speculated on his star quarterback's status, noting that the injury appears similar to the one he sustained in 2012 in a game against the Alouettes. Scianitti reports that type of injury could send Ray to the sidelines for approximately four-to-six weeks.
The full extent of the injury is not yet known, but if Ray is sidelined for a significant amount of time, it appears Kilgore will be looked upon to step in for the face of the franchise.
