Report: Roughriders to sign Duron Carter
The Saskatchewan Roughriders will sign free-agent wide receiver Duron Carter to a contract Wednesday, reports Gary Lawless of TSN.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Chris Carter and nephew of former Toronto Raptors coach Butch Carter, Duron heads to Riderville after spending three of the last four seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. He was with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, but was eventually released without making an impact on the field.
In Montreal, Carter blossomed into one of the top receivers in the CFL, routinely posting monster numbers while terrorizing opposing defences.
Year | Games | REC | YDS | TD |
---|---|---|---|---|
2013 | 11 | 49 | 909 | 5 |
2014 | 15 | 75 | 1030 | 7 |
2016 | 14 | 61 | 938 | 5 |
Despite the production, Carter was cut by the Alouettes before the end of the 2016 campaign due to concerns about his presence in the locker room.
The 25-year-old engaged in a highly publicized midseason feud with former Als quarterback Rakeem Cato, who was also released by Montreal.
The Roughriders are coming off a 5-13 season, and haven't made the playoffs since 2014.
