Alouettes fire head coach Jacques Chapdelaine
The Montreal Alouettes fired head coach Jacques Chapdelaine and defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe on Wednesday, the team announced.
General manager Kavis Reed will serve as the interim head coach for the rest of the season. Under Reed, quarterbacks coach Anthony Calvillo and defensive line coach Greg Quick will be responsible for calling the offensive and defensive plays, respectively.
Chapdelaine posted a 7-10 record in parts of two seasons as the head coach. He took over on an interim basis last year following the resignation of Jim Popp, guiding the Als to a 4-2 record the rest of the way. He was named the permanent head coach in the offseason but went 3-8 this year before his firing.
The Alouettes hold the CFL's second-worst record, but are only one game out of first place in the East Division.
