Roughriders cruise past RedBlacks to advance to East final
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are moving on after beating the Ottawa RedBlacks 31-20.
Saskatchewan quarterback Kevin Glenn passed for 252 yards and a touchdown on the day, but the Riders were carried by their running game. Marcus Thigpen rushed for 169 yards on only 15 carries, which included a 75-yard touchdown in the third quarter that put the game out of reach.
Glenn also contributed a touchdown on the ground after punching in a quarterback sneak.
Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris was making his first career playoff start, and even though he passed for 457 yards, it took him 60 attempts to get there. Harris also threw a pair of interceptions.
Diontae Spencer and Juron Criner combined for 259 yards receiving and a pair of scores for the RedBlacks, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Roughriders.
Saskatchewan will now head to Toronto to meet the Argonauts next Sunday in the Eastern Final.
