Manziel: 'No pressure' leading up to CFL debut
Three days before making his CFL debut, Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Johnny Manziel is focused on relaxing and enjoying his first snaps with the team.
"(The goal is to) just go take a snap and have some fun," Manziel told reporters Tuesday. "There's no pressure, there's no 'go out and throw 10 touchdown passes in one drive.' It's just ball."
The former NFL first-round pick says he feels comfortable in head coach June Jones' offense as it resembles the system he ran in college.
"There's a lot of concepts that coincide with what I did at (Texas) A&M," Manziel said. "It's a similar system as far as throwing the ball. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of everything that we're doing."
Jones said he will "probably script a number of plays" for Manziel ahead of the quarterback's preseason debut Friday versus the Toronto Argonauts.
