Redblacks name LaPolice new head coach
The Ottawa Redblacks officially named Paul LaPolice their new head coach on Saturday.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Redblacks organization and RNation," said LaPolice. "I can't wait to get to work and start competing for championships in Ottawa.
"My family is excited to make Ottawa our home and we can't wait to see everyone out at TD Place. Let's make our house the loudest stadium in the league!"
LaPolice has been the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' offensive coordinator since 2016, winning a Grey Cup with the club in November.
The 49-year-old masterminded the league's highest-scoring offense in 2017 and 2018, and the Bombers topped the West Division in points per game this past season.
LaPolice also acted as the Bombers' head coach from 2010 to 2012. He produced a 16-28 record and led the team to a Grey Cup appearance in 2011 before being fired midway through the 2012 campaign.
The New Hampshire native will succeed Rick Campbell, who mutually parted ways with Ottawa after a 3-15 season. Campbell made three Grey Cup appearances in six seasons with the Redblacks, winning the title in 2016.
