Argos dismiss Chamblin, hire Stampeders' Dinwiddie as new HC
The Toronto Argonauts made a major change to their staff Wednesday, announcing the dismissal of Corey Chamblin and hire of Calgary Stampeders assistant Ryan Dinwiddie as their next head coach.
Chamblin lasted just one season with the Boatmen as his squad finished with the league's second-worst record at 4-14.
Dinwiddie was a highly regarded assistant thanks to his work as Calgary's quarterbacks coach over the last five years, during which he helped Bo Levi Mitchell capture the Most Oustanding Player Award twice.
The 39-year-old also spent five seasons playing in the CFL. He was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2006 to 2008, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2010 to 2011.
"Ryan is one of the top young coaching minds in the CFL right now and we welcome him to the MLSE family," team President Bill Manning said in a statement. "We believe he will set the example to establish the type of culture we need for the Argos to be successful."
Chamblin will look for work elsewhere following his second head coaching stint. He led Saskatchewan to the 2013 Grey Cup and captured Coach of the Year honors that same year.
