The Ottawa Redblacks announced the signing of free-agent quarterback Nick Arbuckle on Friday.
Ottawa acquired Arbuckle's rights in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders on Jan. 3 and managed to lock up the pivot before the start of free agency. The signing gives the Stampeders the first overall pick in the 2020 CFL Draft as a condition of the deal.
Arbuckle spent each of the last two seasons with Calgary. He stepped in and earned a 4-3 record as the Stampeders' starter following an injury to Bo Levi Mitchell early in the 2019 campaign.
The 26-year-old threw for 2,010 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, adding four scores on the ground.
