The Edmonton Elks cut offensive lineman Jacob Ruby after discovering he misrepresented to the team that he was vaccinated, reports TSN's Dave Naylor.
The CFL requires all players vaccinated against COVID-19 to show their team proof. Ruby was released Tuesday for what the Elks are calling a breach of COVID-19 protocols, the club announced.
The 29-year-old Canadian national had been with Edmonton since 2017. The former eighth overall pick started his career in 2015 with the Montreal Alouettes.
The Elks announced Ruby's release while their Tier 1 players, coaches, and staff completed a 10-day isolation period.
Ruby suited up for Edmonton's first three games. The Elks are off to a 1-2 start in 2021.
