2011 CFL Top Canadian Jerome Messam has found a new home after reportedly signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The deal will be made official pending a physical, according to Arash Madani of Sportsnet.
Messam, who was cut by the Montreal Alouettes in training camp, joins a Riders team with an opening at running back after an injury to Neal Hughes.
The 29-year-old chose the defending Grey Cup champions over a number of suitors, including the Calgary Stampeders and the team that just cut him, the Alouettes.
Messam rushed for 1,507 yards and six scores with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2011, earning himself the CFL's Top Canadian award.
