Blue Bombers grant Nic Grigsby his release
The CFL's touchdown leader is no longer on a CFL team.
Wednesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers released running back Nic Grigsby after he asked to be cut.
The 25-year-old took to Twitter to explain his side of things a week after being demoted in favor of Paris Cotton.
To all my teammates & fans here in the peg I love and wish you guys nothing but the best. I asked for my release!!

Grigsby claimed the demotion wasn't a factor in his move.
Despite not being on a roster, Grigsby remains the CFL's touchdown leader with eight. He rushed for 744 yards on 162 carries, good for fourth in the league, while recording 444 receiving yards on 55 catches.
Blue Bombers coach Mike O'Shea benched Grigsby in Winnipeg’s blowout loss in Edmonton on Monday.
"I'm a Winner, loving teammate, and a proving player! I will not sell myself short I love my family & teammates to (sic) much for that to do so!" wrote Grigsby on Twitter.
Grigsby played college football at the University of Arizona from 2007-10. Over that span, he rushed for 2,957 yards on 572 carries with 28 touchdowns. His younger brother, Terris Jones-Grigsby, currently starts at running back for the Wildcats.
The Blue Bombers (6-9) have lost six in a row, and host Calgary (12-2) Saturday night.
