Lions' Elimimian becomes 1st defensive player to win Most Outstanding Player award

Solomon Elimimian made history with the second award he received Thursday.
The BC Lions linebacker became the first defensive player in CFL history to be named Most Outstanding Player following his record-breaking 2014 campaign. Elimimian won the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award earlier in the evening.
Elimimian broke the league record for defensive tackles (143) while matching or setting career-highs in sacks (five) and fumble recoveries (three). He is the only player to record at least 10 tackles in six different contests in a season.

Elimimian is the first player in CFL history to win three different awards in his career after also being named top rookie in 2010.
Elimimian was selected over East Division nominee Ricky Ray, who led the league in passing yards with the Toronto Argonauts.
