Chad Kackert eyeing return to the CFL with Argonauts
Former Toronto running back Chad Kackert may be making a return to the CFL this season with the Argonauts.
One day after a report by the Toronto Sun's Frank Zicarelli explored Kackert's hopeful reintroduction to the CFL, the 2012 Grey Cup MVP made his Argos mini-camp debut in Bradenton, Fla.
Kackert's CFL career was in peril following the 100th Grey Cup, where he augmented the level of his play in the post-season. After a glorious playoff campaign culminating in the Argos winning the title at home, Kackert broke his ankle in practice during a bye week in 2013. Then, during his rehabilitation, he injured his hamstring, leaving Kackert's future in question.
Although it's still unknown whether the Argos will find a spot for the former MVP on their roster, they appear willing to give him an opportunity.
With his reincarnation comes a new number for the 29-year-old free agent, as he has gone from No. 44 to No. 25.
The Argos mini-camp began Saturday, and will continue throughout the week.
