Tiger-Cats complete 2-game sweep, best Argos at home
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats completed a two-game home-and-home series sweep of the Toronto Argonauts on Friday, downing the Boatmen 35-27 in a closely fought affair at the Rogers Center.
The victory further cemented Hamilton's hold atop the East Division, pushing the Tiger-Cats' (8-3) lead over the second-place Argonauts (6-5) to two games.
Zach Collaros put forward another stellar outing for Hamilton, throwing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. In the receiving end, Terrell Sinkfield and Luke Tasker led the way for the Tiger-Cats, accruing 91 and 89 receiving yards, respectively.
Tasker also netted a touchdown.
Hamilton's Brandon Banks had a relatively tame night on special teams, returning six kicks for a combined 105 yards.
Arriving back in friendlier terrain, Toronto once again fell behind early to Hamilton before climbing back in the second half to draw within a few points of the visitors.
The Tigers-Cats, however, pulled away in the fourth quarter, racking up 13 points to ensure the win.
Toronto quarterback Trevor Harris racked up 247 passing yards but was beset by turnovers. He threw two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Tori Gurley led the way on the receiving end for the Boatmen, netting seven catches for 107 yards and one touchdown.
Toronto gets next week off, while Hamilton returns home to Tim Hortons Field to host the Edmonton Eskimos (6-4) on Saturday.
