David Alaba's father confirms Real Madrid interest
There is truth to the rumours that Real Madrid is sighting a move for Bayern Munich's David Alaba, according to the player's father.
The versatile Austrian attracted attention for the wrong reasons on Tuesday with a disastrous own goal while representing his country, but since making his Bayern bow in 2010, he's firmly placed himself among the world's defensive elite.
Cue attention from Los Blancos, who were crowned Champions League winners when they overcame Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
"Real Madrid are a really great club and we're very proud of their interest," George Alaba is quoted in AS. "This is all I can say, nothing more."
Ozgur Sancar of AS believes an offer of €50 million has been tabled for the 23-year-old, but the German giant is seeking a bid more in the region of €80 million. Alaba is said to be keen on playing in the centre of midfield more regularly, rather than at left-back or centre-back.
Alaba will be an integral part of Austria's Euro 2016 campaign, which begins on June 14 against Hungary in Bordeaux.
