Yaya Toure left off Manchester City's Champions League roster

Manchester City announced its roster for the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League on Friday, and while a number of stars made the cut, veteran midfielder Yaya Toure, as expected, did not.

The Ivory Coast international was the sole name in Pep Guardiola's 22-player senior roster left off the squad, as City prepares to take on Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Celtic in Group C.

Toure's exclusion doesn't come as much of a surprise, however, since he was also left off the team that took on Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League play-off tie first leg, but did play in the second leg.

The club is also limited to 17 overseas players, leaving Toure as the odd man out.
