Zidane considers Ronaldo 'best player in the history of Real Madrid'

France football icon and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says he cannot argue with the notion that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player to play for Los Blancos.

This is a bold suggestion, considering some of the legendary names that have called the Santiago Bernabéu home.

Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Fernando Redondo, Raul, and Alfredo Di Stefano are just a few of the names that are ingrained in Madrid's footballing folklore.

"Any other player could come to Madrid and he's never going to achieve what Cristiano has achieved," Zidane said, as reported by AS Sport.

Ronaldo, 31, joined Madrid from Manchester United back in 2009, and since then has won almost every team and individual award possible.

The Portuguese purveyor of elegance and pace helped Madrid win the Champions League on two separate occasions - as well as lift the La Liga title in 2011-12 - a cherry on the cake for the man who has won the Ballon d'Or four times.

"It's no exaggeration to say that he's the best player in the history of Real Madrid," Zidane added.

"And the four Ballon d'Ors? Bravo. I think he can win it again."

Ronaldo is set to be in action again this week when Madrid takes on Mexican side Club America in a Club World Cup semi-final match taking place in Japan on Thursday.
