Report: Liverpool undeterred by Roma rejecting £28M offer for Salah
Liverpool will consider upping its offer for Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah after Roma rejected an initial bid of £28 million, reports BBC Sport's Phil McNulty.
The clubs are still talking, according to McNulty, and the Giallorossi will reportedly accept offers worth between £35 million and £40 million for the ex-Chelsea man.
Salah, 24, has emerged as one of Jurgen Klopp's chief transfer priorities this summer as the German tries to bulk up his attacking options ahead of a domestic title pursuit and first Champions League showing since 2014. The savage dribbler had interested then-manager Brendan Rodgers just ten-and-a-half months before that group stage exit in Europe's premier club competition, but Salah instead chose to move to Chelsea from FC Basel for £11 million.
Salah was instrumental in Roma's chase for domestic honours in the 2016-17 term, helping it to second place in Serie A with a club-record 87 points by scoring 15 goals and crafting 11 assists predominantly from the right flank.
He first joined Roma on loan from Chelsea, but the Italian outfit made his stay permanent for approximately £15 million last summer. His exploits since should see his asking price rise considerably.
Klopp's current first-choice options in his frontline are Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane. The club faltered when the latter was absent at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, and Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, and a shunted-forward Adam Lallana were not entirely convincing in their respective auditions up top.
