Even when he scores for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe still can't catch a break.

The French superstar left Tuesday's Champions League match against Atalanta with a leg injury, going down late in the first half and asking to be substituted. Rodrygo replaced him in the 36th minute.

"(Mbappe) has a strain, some discomfort in his thigh," Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said after the match. "We'll have to see. It doesn't look serious, but I don't know, we'll see tomorrow. He couldn't sprint. It was bothering him, so we had to substitute him."

Before the injury, Mbappe recorded the 50th Champions League goal of his career, opening the scoring in Italy with a fine tally that showcased just how devastating he can be when at his best.

In finding the net, Mbappe became the second-youngest player to reach the half-century mark in the competition, behind only Lionel Messi. Mbappe, 25, needed only 79 games to hit the milestone.

Despite his well-documented struggles adapting to his new club since joining in the summer, Mbappe now has 12 goals across all competitions this season.

Real Madrid went on to win Tuesday's match 3-2, picking up three points the Champions League holders desperately needed as they look to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.
