Barcelona defeats River Plate to win 3rd FIFA Club World Cup trophy
Barcelona is king of the world once again after defeating Argentine outfit River Plate 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring for the Blaugrana, maneuvering with skill in the River Plate box before tucking home his effort in the 36th minute.
Luis Suarez then added a pair of goals in the second half: the first was an easy finish rebounded off the goalkeeper, and the second was a leaping header served on a plate from a Neymar cross.
It's the third time Barcelona has won the Club World Cup, which is designed to pit the champions of each continent against one another each year. Barcelona previously won the title in 2011, beating Brazilian outfit Santos 4-0, and in 2009 when the Blaugrana topped Argentine side Estudiantes.
