Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 90th goal in the Champions League - and his 40th in all competitions this season - to send Real Madrid to the quarter-finals.
Down 2-0 from the first leg, Roma put pressure on Madrid in the reverse fixture and could have erased the deficit, but Ronaldo ended any hope of a comeback with a timely tap-in off a cross from substitute Lucas Vazquez.
