Morgan to skip Jamaica's Copa America opener after partying with Leicester

Jamaica will take the field Sunday against Venezuela without captain Wes Morgan, who's yet to train with the national team after spending the past few weeks celebrating Leicester City's unlikely Premier League title.

"Our team is complete. Wes Morgan has come, but he's tired; that is clear," said Jamaica coach Winfried Schafer. "All week, he has not trained. He partied in London and Thailand, and I am very happy he is here, and maybe he can help in the second match, but not the first match because it is too difficult."

The Reggae Boyz aren't expected to do much damage in the Copa America Centenario. They also have Mexico and Uruguay as Group C opponents, and the opener versus Venezuela was considered the only winnable contest.

That job's now more difficult without Morgan, whose resolute performances in the centre of defence helped Leicester achieve a first-ever top-flight crown.

If he's fit, Morgan will appear Thursday against Mexico.
