Batshuayi happy with Dortmund move due to love of Spongebob, Batman
Michy Batshuayi enjoyed a stellar debut with Borussia Dortmund on Friday, netting a brace in a 3-2 win over 1. FC Koln just a couple days after joining the team on loan from Chelsea.
Though he was denied a hat-trick by Koln goalkeeper Timo Horn, Batshuayi was still all smiles after the match and affirmed he was quite pleased with his move because the team's colours rank high among his favourites - and for good reason.
"I am very, very happy to be here," Batshuayi said after the win, as quoted by the Bundesliga website. "I love Borussia Dortmund. Black and yellow are my favourite colours, because I love Batman and Spongebob Squarepants."
Indeed, the 24-year-old has never shied away from his affinity for those classic cartoon characters, sharing that love on social media while referring to himself with the nickname "Batsman."
But for the Belgium international, a move to Dortmund also offers a chance to find regular playing time ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup this summer.
"I'm very happy to score but the most important thing is the victory," Batshuayi said after the match. "I want to give my all to go up in the league, reach the Champions League and keep winning games."
