Report: Boateng to stay at Bayern after PSG's €40M offer is rebuffed
Jerome Boateng, who looked likely to leave Bayern Munich this summer, will reportedly remain at the club following Paris Saint-Germain's unsuccessful attempt to sign the German defender.
Bild correspondent Christian Falk believes the decision was made after Bayern turned down PSG's €40-million offer for Boateng. The reigning German champions apparently wanted €50 million for the center-back.
Bayern president Uli Hoeness said last week Boateng's chances of staying stood at 50-50 following reported interest from PSG and Manchester United. The 29-year-old had expressed a change of scenery to club officials, but negotiations with either club failed.
PSG appeared to satisfy their needs at the center-back position with the signing of 21-year-old Thilo Kehrer from Schalke. United, meanwhile, were no longer able to make a move as the transfer window slammed shut in England earlier in the month.
The Ligue 1 giants also had to be mindful of UEFA's ongoing investigation into the club's commitment to Financial Fair Play.
Boateng, who started in Bayern's 3-1 opening win against Hoffenheim last Friday, has a contract with the Bavarians until June 2021.
