Ribery completes move to Fiorentina

Florence is now home to Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery with confirmation Wednesday that the French winger has joined Fiorentina.

Although terms of the agreement between Ribery and the Serie A side have yet to be disclosed, it's understood that the 36-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract, according to Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian.

Ribery will be unveiled at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on Thursday.

After landing in Tuscany, Ribery, who was mobbed by hundreds of fans at the Florence airport, revealed that former Bayern teammate and Italy international Luca Toni played a role in his decision to join Fiorentina.

"I'm glad to be here with my family," Ribery said, according to Calciomercato.com. For a week I have been talking with the people of Fiorentina, Toni told me that it's a great club and Florence is a beautiful city. Italian? It's not perfect yet, but it's a language that I like."

Ribery's move to Italy comes just months after he ended his illustrious career at Bayern Munich. After joining the Bavarians in 2007, Ribery went on to play a pivotal role in helping the Bundesliga giants win nine league title, the Champions League in 2013, and several other major honors.

He is Fiorentina's eighth summer signing, joining new additions such as Kevin-Prince Boateng, Pol Lirola, and Milan Badelj.
