Report: Liverpool contact Bayern about move for Thiago
Thiago Alcantara could be on his way to Anfield after all.
Liverpool reportedly ruled out a move for Thiago earlier this summer, but the Reds now appear to have made a U-turn after contacting Bayern Munich to inquire about the Spaniard's availability, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
Thiago is said to be eager to join the Premier League champions, though Romano adds Bayern Munich will not accept an offer worth less than €30 million for the 29-year-old.
It's understood Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Thiago, who notified Bayern Munich of his desire to leave after contract talks broke down earlier this year.
Despite news of what's believed to be the first contact between the two sides, James Findlater of the Liverpool Echo reports the Reds have not reached out to Bayern. He notes the Bundesliga outfit could be trying to spark a bidding war for Thiago.
Thiago has made 230 appearances since joining Bayern from Barcelona for €25 million in 2013, but the German side could lose him for nothing when his contract expires next year if he isn't sold this summer.
The Spanish international has won the Bundesliga title in every season he's spent at Bayern.
It was reported in July that Liverpool were unlikely to pursue Thiago because they were not expecting to make a high-profile signing this summer. The Reds were previously linked with Timo Werner but reportedly withdrew their interest before the German forward joined Chelsea.
