Report: Man City's Kyle Walker expected to join Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich are in talks to sign Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker, sources told The Athletic's Sam Lee.
While the two sides are still negotiating a fee for Walker, Lee expects the 33-year-old to join the German champions this summer.
Walker has one year remaining on his contract with the treble winners.
Despite starting in 11 of City's final 13 matches of the season, the English international reportedly took issue with his diminishing role in the team. Walker also watched most of City's Champions League final win on the bench, appearing only for a few minutes as a substitute.
Bayern are searching for a right-back after experimenting with City's Joao Cancelo on loan last season. The German champions are reportedly unlikely to take up Cancelo's €70-million option to buy.
Noussair Mazraoui and Benjamin Pavard could leave Munich as well. Mazraoui has struggled to make an impact since joining the Bavarians on a free transfer from Ajax last year. Pavard also has one year remaining on his contract.
Walker is one of several players City could lose in the upcoming transfer window, potentially leaving the club with a costly rebuild in the wake of winning the treble. Cancelo is reportedly unlikely to stay at City, Ilkay Gundogan continues to draw interest as a free agent, Saudi Arabia's top clubs are reportedly targeting Riyad Mahrez, and Bernardo Silva appears to be on Paris Saint-Germain's wish list.
City signed Walker from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £45 million in July 2017. The English international evolved into one of Pep Guardiola's most versatile defenders during their time together at Eastlands, using his pace on the right of a three-man defense to keep opponents from exploiting City's high line.
He's won five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and one Champions League title in six years spent in Manchester.
