Report: PFA offers to mediate between Mahrez, Leicester

The Professional Footballers' Association is reportedly willing to set itself up as an arbitrator in the stalemate at King Power Stadium.

According to Sky Sports, the PFA offered to help resolve the standoff between Riyad Mahrez and Leicester City. The assistance was apparently proposed last week after the Algerian winger's continued absence from training, but the offer is yet to be taken up. The union is allegedly monitoring Mahrez's nonattendance.

Sky Sports' Rob Dorsett reported on Tuesday that Mahrez missed training for the fourth time in a week since a deadline-day move to Manchester City failed to materialise. He missed Leicester's last two games, and it reportedly remains unclear whether he was given permission to skip the last training session or if he's refusing to attend.

Following the 1-1 draw between Leicester and Swansea City, in which Mahrez was nowhere to be seen, Claude Puel said: "Riyad is not my preoccupation. My preoccupation is my available players and to keep them in a positive attitude and to continue this good work."

Leicester will play City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
