Report: Inter want Vertonghen next summer after Spurs rule out winter move
Inter Milan are interested in Jan Vertonghen, but a move for the Tottenham Hotspur defender will need to wait.
Tottenham have told the Italian side they will not consider selling the Belgian defender during the January transfer window, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
But it's understood Inter will attempt to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer when his contract at Tottenham expires at the end of the season, Romano adds.
Although Tottenham have yet to rule out signing Vertonghen to a new contract, Inter will reportedly hold the edge over the Premier League club because they're preparing to offer him a longer deal. It's believed Inter are ready to offer Vertonghen a three-year contract.
Vertonghen has called north London home since his arrival from Ajax in 2012.
