Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is expected to make a "full recovery" after undergoing surgery on his fractured right ankle, the team announced Monday.
"The procedure went extremely well," a club statement read.
Gomes, 26, suffered the gruesome injury late during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Tottenham through the combination of a Heung-Min Son tackle, an awkward fall, and a subsequent collision with Serge Aurier.
He was stretchered off the pitch at Goodison Park while Son, who was shown a red card for the challenge, was visibly distraught over the incident.
The club added: "(Gomes) will now spend some time recovering in hospital, before returning to USM Finch Farm to start his rehabilitation under the guidance of the club's medical staff."
