An unidentified Bournemouth player tested positive for COVID-19 and will be in self-isolation for seven days, the club announced Sunday.
"Medical confidentiality means the player's identity will remain anonymous and the club asks for this to be respected," Bournemouth stated. "In line with Premier League protocols regarding positive tests, he will self-isolate for a period of seven days before being tested again at a later date.
"Following strict adherence of the Premier League's return to training regulations, the club's training ground remains a safe working environment for players and backroom staff, who will continue to be tested for COVID-19 twice per week."
The Bournemouth player was one of two in the Premier League who tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday.
The two positive tests were announced following the Premier League's second round of testing on 996 players and staff, who were screened last Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
In previous tests carried out on May 17 and 18, six of the 748 individuals tested positive for the virus. Of the three positive results that came from Watford, defender Adrian Mariappa was revealed to have contracted COVID-19.
Premier League clubs began non-contact training on Tuesday for the first time since the season was suspended on March 13.
Though a return date has yet to be decided, the Premier League is hopeful of playing the remaining 92 fixtures and completing the season.
