Wilder confident Henderson's Sheffield United loan will be extended
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is confident that Dean Henderson can remain on loan at Bramall Lane for the rest of the season.
The goalkeeper was crucial to the Blades' promotion from the Championship and has continued his fine form in the Premier League this campaign. However, his second season-long loan from Manchester United is set to expire on June 30.
Wilder's trust that Henderson will stay until the end of the prolonged campaign stems from a conversation with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"Ole was fine with extending his loan; hopefully, that will get signed off before the deadline," Wilder said Monday, according to BBC Sport.
"I appreciate Ole's help on that one. Dean has been great for us and we have been great for Dean. I believe it's now just administration with the two clubs."
There is an increasing amount of fan pressure for Henderson, 23, to succeed incumbent United shot-stopper David De Gea between the sticks. De Gea has been lambasted for individual errors over the past couple of seasons and was the center of attention again after failing to prevent Steven Bergwijn's goal in Friday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
Henderson, who is in contention for the Premier League's Golden Glove award with 11 clean sheets, is ineligible to play against Manchester United on Wednesday under the terms of his loan agreement. Simon Moore or Michael Verrips will deputize in his absence.
