EPL betting preview: West Ham inch closer to safety, Everton extend unbeaten run

Matchday 33 begins with five games on Saturday - which we already provided bets for - and continues into Sunday before culminating in a tantalizing clash in north London on Monday night.

Let's dive into the second half of Matchday 33.

West Ham (+175) at Newcastle (+160), Draw (+225)

West Ham United had been sputtering since the restart but were terrific in beating Chelsea on Wednesday night. They executed a perfectly orchestrated game plan, took their chances with aplomb, and weren't undone when a goal was incorrectly disallowed by VAR. They showed plenty of tenacity and belief, and if they continue to play that way, they will have no issue avoiding the drop.

And the drop is no longer an issue Newcastle United need to worry about, having surpassed the magical 40-point mark in a win over Bournemouth on Wednesday. Steve Bruce has done a sensational job of getting the best out of this team, and it's rather shocking that there are still questions surrounding his future.

There is a bit of an opportunity here for the Hammers, though, with Bruce revealing he will make some changes to the team ahead of their fifth match in 15 days. The hosts are dealing with some injuries as well, with Jamal Lascelles, Joelinton, Sean Longstaff, and Javier Manquillo all doubts, but Bruce has put together a wonderfully deep squad and has plenty of talented options to rotate into the side.

Now that the Magpies are safe, it wouldn't be surprising to see their intensity relent just a bit, but Bruce will surely find a way to get a performance out of them still. West Ham's win over Chelsea provided a bit of breathing room between the Hammers and the bottom three, and David Moyes would certainly take a point here, especially with Watford, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth facing daunting trips to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, respectively.

Everton (+240) at Tottenham (+100), Draw (+240)

It's hard to get on board with the idea that Jose Mourinho is the right man to manage Tottenham Hotspur next season. With their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, it might be a blessing in disguise for Spurs to stumble down the stretch and force a change at manager. Mourinho's stubbornness to adapt will hold this club back. There will be good performances, and there will be results like the one on Thursday night at Bramall Lane.

VAR did Spurs no favors in their defeat to Sheffield United, but their performance didn't warrant a result. They were hardly a threat on the front foot and were too easily carved open in defense. Once Harry Kane's goal was disallowed, you could see the air sucked out of the side. There's a worrisome fragility about Spurs right now.

That isn't at all the case for Everton, who have no questions about who the right man to lead them forward is. They did really well to attract Carlo Ancelotti, and the early returns have been excellent. The Toffees haven't been beaten often since the Italian took over, and they are great value to extend their unbeaten run in north London with a third successive draw against Spurs.
