Premier League releases 2020-21 fixture list
The dust has barely settled on an unprecedented Premier League campaign, and the fixture list for the 2020-21 season is already released.
After last season spanned almost an entire year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 20 top-flight clubs face a difficult task ahead, as the Premier League unveiled on Thursday a compact schedule that spans the next nine months.
Liverpool will kick off their title defense at Anfield against the newly promoted Leeds United. It's been just less than a month since the Reds hoisted the Premier League trophy to end their 30-year wait for a top-flight title.
The other two promoted clubs, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, will open the season against top-four hopefuls Arsenal and Leicester City, respectively.
Meanwhile, Manchester City and Manchester United will begin their campaigns one week later than the rest of the league after competing in the Champions League and Europa League, respectively. United host Crystal Palace and City visit Wolverhampton on Sept. 19.
The new season begins on the weekend of Sept. 12 and ends on May 23.
Opening week matches
- Crystal Palace vs. Southampton
- Fulham vs. Arsenal
