Manchester United's Lindelof catches thief in Sweden
Swedish police are praising Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof after he chased down a thief who stole an elderly woman's purse on Monday.
The incident took place in Lindelof's home city of Vasteras, located roughly 60 miles west of Stockholm.
"A man who was in the vicinity ran after the suspected perpetrator, caught up with him and kept him until the police arrived at the scene," police said, according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
"The police would like to thank the witness for a rapid and sensible intervention," the statement continued.
Manchester United confirmed to Aftonbladet that the 26-year-old defender was the unnamed person who caught the robber, a man in his 30s who now faces aggravated theft and minor drug charges.
"Victor believes he was just doing what anybody would have done in that situation," a club source said.
Lindelof has made 82 Premier League appearances for Manchester United since joining the club from Benfica in 2017.
