England named Trent Alexander-Arnold to its 26-man squad for this summer's European Championship despite strong suggestions that manager Gareth Southgate could leave him off the team.

Southgate reportedly preferred other options at right-back with Kyle Walker, Reece James, and Kieran Trippier in the fold. However, Southgate will take four right-backs to the competition after apparently making a U-turn regarding the controversial decision.

Jesse Lingard and Ollie Watkins were among the notable players to miss the cut. James Ward-Prowse, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and Ben Godfrey were also left off the squad.

Mason Greenwood was also among the cuts, but it was announced earlier Tuesday that the Manchester United forward withdrew due to injury.

Meanwhile, stars such as Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho, and Raheem Sterling headline Southgate's final selection.

Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson were included, although both are recovering from injuries.

England kicks off its Euro 2020 campaign against Croatia before taking on Scotland and the Czech Republic in Group D.
