FA Cup semifinal draw: Liverpool tee up blockbuster vs. Manchester City
Manchester City will face Liverpool twice in a week in April - with both the FA Cup and Premier League on the line.
City and Liverpool drew each other in the FA Cup semifinals after winning their quarterfinal matchups Sunday. Pep Guardiola's side progressed with a 4-1 over Southampton, while Jurgen Klopp's outfit edged out Championship side Nottingham Forest to win 1-0.
Chelsea will take on surprise package Crystal Palace in the other semifinal.
The games are scheduled for April 16 and April 17 at Wembley Stadium.
City host Liverpool in the Premier League on April 10, kicking off what could be a season-defining seven days for both clubs. The Reds remain just one point behind the defending champions with nine matches remaining in the top flight.
Liverpool also have a chance to win an unprecedented quadruple. After taking home the League Cup on penalties in February, Klopp's team advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals, where it will face Portuguese side Benfica over two legs on April 5 and 13.
Chelsea advanced to a third successive FA Cup semifinal with a routine 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday. Palace, meanwhile, booked their first trip to Wembley since 2016 following a 4-0 rout of Everton. The south London side lost to Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup final after extra time.
