Report: Pogba opts against joining Manchester City, PSG move most likely

Paul Pogba has opted against joining Manchester City on a free transfer, reports David Ornstein of The Athletic.

The French midfielder, whose contract with rivals Manchester United expires this summer, received a "flattering" proposal from the Premier League leaders, according to Ornstein, and gave the possible switch serious consideration.

However, the 29-year-old, courted by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Real Madrid, apparently favors a move abroad. PSG are leading the race for Pogba's signature because Juve, his former team, can't match the Ligue 1 outfit's financial package, sources told Rob Dawson of ESPN.

Pogba won't make a final decision on his future until the end of the campaign, Dawson added.

The World Cup winner, currently sidelined with a calf injury, has likely already played his final game for Manchester United. He's recorded a team-leading nine Premier League assists this season despite only appearing in 20 matches.

Pep Guardiola had identified the Frenchman as a potential candidate to help fill the void that will be left by departing captain Fernandinho. Declan Rice and Frenkie de Jong have also previously been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, though significant hurdles exist in the pursuit of both players.
