Report: Ronaldo to reject €275M offer from Saudi club
Cristiano Ronaldo has no interest in spending the final years of his career in the Middle East.
Ronaldo is expected to turn down an offer worth €275 million from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia, sources told ESPN's Adriana Garcia.
The deal, which would reportedly last two seasons, would easily make the 37-year-old the highest-paid footballer in the world.
The club also offered to pay Manchester United around €30 million to sign Ronaldo, according to Garcia. The Portuguese international still has a year remaining on his contract with the Red Devils.
Ronaldo reportedly told United he wants to leave this summer and play for a team that can compete for titles. He also wants to continue his record-breaking run in the Champions League. Ronaldo, the tournament's all-time leading scorer with 140 goals, has participated in each of the last 19 editions.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly rejected offers to sign Ronaldo after holding talks with agent Jorge Mendes. Chelsea are reportedly working on signing defenders after unveiling Raheem Sterling as their first signing of the summer window. PSG, meanwhile, are working on extending Lionel Messi's contract.
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn also ruled out a move for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, saying he doesn't "fit" their philosophy.
Atletico Madrid and Napoli reportedly remain interested in signing Ronaldo. However, United continue to insist the Euro 2016 winner is off the market.
Ronaldo skipped the club's preseason tour of Asia for personal reasons.
