Report: United to sign Martinez from Ajax in deal worth up to €55M
Manchester United are reinforcing their defense, reaching an agreement with Ajax for defender Lisandro Martinez in a package worth up to €55 million, Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian reports.
The 24-year-old Argentinian international will reportedly sign a contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2027.
United will pay an initial €50 million plus add-ons that could see the fee rise a further €5 million, according to Romano.
The center-back previously played under new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag during their time together with Ajax.
United are also still pushing to sign midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The Premier League club reportedly agreed to a deal with Barcelona worth up to €85 million, but De Jong, who also played under ten Hag, is reluctant to make make the switch.
