Forest sign Lingard to reported 1-year deal worth up to £120K per week
Jesse Lingard completed a free transfer to Nottingham Forest on Thursday, becoming the club's 11th summer signing after leaving boyhood club Manchester United at the end of June.
Lingard signed a one-year contract worth up to £120,000 per week, The Telegraph's Sam Wallace reports. That includes a basic salary of around £80,000 per week and a further £40,000 in incentives.
The 29-year-old reportedly held talks with West Ham United before deciding to join Steve Cooper's side.
Lingard will wear the No. 10 shirt at City Ground.
West Ham openly pursued Lingard before and after his deal with United expired in June. The English international won over hearts while playing on loan in east London during the second half of the 2020-21 season.
The Hammers offered Lingard a similarly competitive financial package, according to Wallace, but Forest's deal allows the player to earn more in potential bonuses.
Forest returned to the English top flight after toiling in the country's second and third divisions for the past 23 years. The club's made a number of changes since it sealed promotion with a win over Huddersfield Town in the Championship playoff final in May, losing forward Lewis Grabban and standout 'keeper Brice Samba.
However, in a bid to revamp their squad, the Reds have spent nearly £75 million in transfer fees on several players, including club-record signing Taiwo Awoniyi.
