EPL wrap-up: Spurs finish 5th, Chelsea into Europe, Luton relegated

Sunday's final round of Premier League fixtures decided more than just the title race.

As Manchester City celebrated their fourth straight Premier League title, Tottenham Hotspur preserved their place in the Europa League, Chelsea salvaged their season by reaching the Europa Conference League, and Luton Town ended their misery with relegation to the Championship.

City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa qualified for the Champions League prior to Sunday's sprint to the finish.

For the moment, Newcastle United and Manchester United face a season without European football. But the FA Cup on May 25 could change that. If United beat City at Wembley Stadium, they'll win a ticket to the Europa League. If City clinch a domestic double, Chelsea will inherit the Europa League berth on offer, and their Conference League spot will fall to seventh-place Newcastle.

Spurs had to avoid defeat to ensure their place in Europe's second-tier competition, and they did just that with a straightforward 3-0 win over bottom side Sheffield United.

Chelsea beat Bournemouth 2-1 to complete a troubling campaign on a five-match winning streak and return to European competition after a one-year absence.

Luton's fate was virtually sealed on the penultimate day of the season. They entered the final round three points back of 17th-place Nottingham Forest and had to win their game and somehow overcome a goal difference of 12. The Hatters ended up losing 4-2 to Fulham and finishing six points behind Forest.

Luton drop down with Burnley and Sheffield United.
