West Ham signed Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville in a deal worth a reported £25 million on Saturday as the Premier League club moved closer to a swoop for Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Summerville agreed a five-year contract with the Hammers after finishing as the Championship Player of the Year last season.

The 22-year-old, whose fee could reportedly rise to £34 million with add-ons, was third-highest scorer in the second tier last season with 19 goals.

"Leeds United can confirm Crysencio Summerville has today joined West Ham United in a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, after an exit clause within his contract was triggered," a statement from the Championship side read.

"Crysencio now departs Elland Road to join Premier League outfit West Ham and we wish him well for the future."

The Hammers have already signed Maximilian Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham since finishing ninth in the Premier League last season.

Summerville, who joined Leeds from Feyenoord in 2020, is the second high-profile departure from Elland Road since Daniel Farke's side lost to Southampton in the Championship playoff final in May.

Archie Gray made a £40-million move from Leeds to Tottenham earlier in the close season.

West Ham, who hired former Real Madrid and Spain boss Julen Lopetegui in May following David Moyes' departure, have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund star Fullkrug.

Dortmund have allowed Fullkrug to leave their pre-season training camp for talks with an unnamed club, believed to be West Ham.

"Niclas Fullkrug has left training camp in Switzerland on Saturday morning. Borussia Dortmund have allowed the striker to leave for talks with another club," Dortmund said in a statement on X.

Fullkrug, 31, scored 12 goals in 29 Bundesliga games last season and represented his country at Euro 2024.
