Sunderland thump Sheffield Wednesday to maintain perfect start
Regis Le Bris enjoyed a dream first home game in charge of Sunderland as the Black Cats thumped Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 to go second in the Championship on Sunday.
Dennis Cirkin, Eliezer Mayenda and Luke O'Nien all struck inside the first 25 minutes.
Spanish forward Mayenda added his second just after the break as Sunderland joined Burnley and Watford as the only sides with two wins from two Championship games.
Wednesday began their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Wayne Rooney's Plymouth last weekend but were brought back down to earth on Wearside.
Frenchman Le Bris was appointed in June on the back of a dismal campaign for Sunderland, who failed to win any of their last seven home games on their way to a disappointing 16th-place finish.
"It was a perfect first game at home," said the former Lorient coach.
"We have a talented group so we can create many things.
"The basis we need to build together, the way we want to defend, recover the ball, the way we want to counter-press and this part of our game today was good."
