Everton's bid for Premier League survival has been hit by serious injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala.

The Toffees confirmed on Thursday that on-loan Lyon midfielder Mangala sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his knee during their 1-0 victory at Brighton on Saturday.

Mangala will miss the rest of the season and Everton said: "The Belgian international will now see a specialist to determine the next step for his recovery."

Meanwhile, Everton boss David Moyes will also have to plan without Calvert-Lewin for several weeks.

"Calvert-Lewin sustained a hamstring injury in the 12th minute at Brighton which will require a specialist opinion and is likely to sideline the striker for a number of weeks," Everton said.

Moyes was already facing up to the possibility of being without winger Dwight McNeil for the remainder of the campaign.

McNeil has been out since December 4 with a knee injury and may have to undergo season-ending surgery.

Everton's latest injuries are a massive setback ahead of Saturday's crucial clash with fellow strugglers Leicester.

Moyes' men are six points above Leicester and seven clear of the relegation zone.
