League Cup 4th round draw: Lampard returns to Chelsea

Saturday's draw for the fourth round of the League Cup threw up several tasty ties.

The most noteworthy was Chelsea legend Frank Lampard's return to Stamford Bridge as manager of Derby County.

Lampard spent 13 years as a star player for the Blues and is the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 211 strikes, and he's also fourth on Chelsea's all-time appearances list. A trip back to the Bridge is the reward for his Derby side knocking out Manchester United in a mammoth penalty shootout at Old Trafford last week.

Elsewhere in the draw, the affair between traditional rivals West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur under the floodlights at the London Stadium promises to be feisty. There are also all-Premier League ties in Manchester City vs. Fulham, and in Leicester's hosting of the winner of the delayed third-round matchup between Everton and Southampton, to be played this week.

The meeting between Championship sides Burton Albion and Nottingham Forest, located just 27 miles apart, is the only tie not to feature a top-flight club.

Full draw:

  • Manchester City vs. Fulham
  • Bournemouth vs. Norwich City
  • Arsenal vs. Blackpool
  • Leicester City vs. Everton or Southampton
  • West Ham vs. Tottenham
  • Middlesbrough vs. Crystal Palace
  • Chelsea vs. Derby County
  • Burton Albion vs. Nottingham Forest

The fourth-round ties will be played during the week beginning Oct. 29.
