West Brom and Burnley played out a 0-0 draw in the English Championship on Thursday as both teams' struggles in front of goal continued.

Carlos Corberan's West Brom have now failed to score in their past four home games and did not register a shot on target in the first half.

Burnley also struggled in front of goal but West Brom had goalkeeper Alex Palmer to thank for stopping Jeremy Sarmiento when he was through one-on-one.

The visitors had a goal chalked off in controversial fashion as Jaidon Anthony's effort was belatedly ruled out by referee Tom Nield.

Lucas Pires picked out Anthony to nod into the back of the net just before the hour, but Nield ruled the goal out for what appeared to be a soft push on Callum Styles.

Shortly afterwards Pires hit a post.

"I've watched it back again -- it's a goal," said Burnley manager Scott Parker. "It's a valid goal and disappointing the ref has decided to give that decision. There's a little hand but nothing to influence the player too much.

"Overall we looked very good, good value. At this present moment the chances are not going in (but) overall today the attacking threat was more positive."

Despite the draw, West Brom climbed to fifth in the table, two points behind Burnley.
