Team USA labels report of Ryder Cup postponement 'inaccurate'

As golf tournaments around the world were being canceled, a report surfaced Tuesday suggesting the 2020 Ryder Cup was expected to be postponed for an entire year.

However, Team USA's Twitter account quickly denied the report.

Team Europe captain Padraig Harrington also shot down the idea that the event would be delayed until 2021.

"I'm on the inside of these things," Harrington said, according to Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner. "Normally, you’re looking at 'anonymous source says this ...' but now that I'm on the inside, you go, 'Wow, it really is made-up stuff.'"

The 2020 Ryder Cup is scheduled to begin Sept. 25 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. Harrington believes it's too early to speculate on any potential changes.

"September is a long way off, so there's no change to the situation at all at this stage," he added. "I know there's been some rumors and they had to put out a statement to say there's been no change, but there's definitely no change."

The PGA Tour has canceled eight events so far, while the Masters and PGA Championship were postponed in hopes of being played later this summer.
